![]() Posted: November 12, 2012 Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today. We are a Mexican band formed in London by Le Sxantanas (vocals & guitars) and Luis C. Iriarte (drums). We have been traveling and playing all around Mexico, Europe, and the U.S.A. Living in London, Miami, Playa Del Carmen, Valle De Bravo, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Berlin, and now New York. We’ve been working hard on promoting the album and playing live the most we can. What do you have coming up? What are some of the new projects we can expect to see? We just came back from Europe, promoting our first album, working now on our second one, and ready to start touring the states. As well, we’ve been collaborating with a great Circus & Fire Performance from Berlin called Fuego Rojo, we are planning to set a whole tour with them. It brings you a completely different atmosphere, something new and unexpected on every show. Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
“Canibal” is our first Single and we are pretty surprised about the impact it has had, especially in Europe, Russia, and China. It’s one of the 2 songs we have in Spanish from our debut album “Ouroboros.” It talks about how the selfishness and insecurity can make you destroy somebody. It can take just a sight, just a word to hurt someone. In the Greek mythology, Cronus must devour his own offspring to prevent the overthrowing of his kingdom. It also talks about how eating another person is a way to express a relationship of power over them and will endow the cannibal with the power of the deceased. That’s what happens to us with consumerism. How does your music separate yourself from other artists and bands out there? Our music is an experience where as much as you listen to it, you discover different details, atmospheres, and places. Hard riffs hitting your face as the same time some spiritual messages coming through it. Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry? It’s always hard to be an independent band and travel the world playing, as there is less support for live shows. We believe it’s a great experience as well and it’s a great way to get our music out there. Even though it’sa challenge, we enjoy every part of it. What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back? We haven’t had any set backs yet, everything happens for a reason, whatever comes, we will be ready to confront. What are some things artists need to be careful of? First of all to be real and “Be extremely careful with anything you sign.” Also to take care of the way you promote yourselves (social networks). What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself? You gotta believe on what you are doing. Do it with passion and never give up. We think you have to do things yourself, don’t wait for anybody to come and do it for you. If you work hard then somebody will join you on the ride. Work hard on your music and share it with as many people as you can. It will always be a long way to go, so just enjoy everything you do. What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music? Traveling and playing live as much as we can. Joining forces with different bands and artists, if we all come together, things can be better for all. Also you gotta be grateful and keep a good relationship with all your people supporting you, as they are gonna be your family through all this journey. Where can people visit you?
